*Ron Burns is the Artist-in-Residence for the Humane Society of the United States and the official artist for National Dog Day.

*Bill Bell’s paintings include intricate images of whimsical dogs and cats and kids. He paints cities, neighborhoods, boardwalks and events where people — and animals engaged in ‘people’ activities — gather to enjoy the simple pleasures of daily living.

He paints scenes with holiday themes, too, especially Christmas. “What’s not to like about Christmas?’ asks the 83-year-old artist, a resident of Lebanon Township for the past 33 years. “I like Christmas. I like the thought of Christmas. I like my early memories of Christmas Eve in Philadelphia, growing up, when my dad and I used to go out and buy our tree when trees were reduced to half-price, three dollars.”
