Robert Vavra was born in California and lived there until his early twenties when he went to Europe where he has since spent most of his time. He is the author of over thirty books published by William Morrow & Company of New York, and Taschen of Cologne, Germany, including Equus, Horses of the Sun and Unicorns I Have Known. Robert now divides his time between his ranch in Seville, Spain and his camp in the Kenyan Highlands. A haunting stallion image of Robert Vavra’s recently appeared on the cover of the best-selling novel by Nicholas Evans. Subsequently, Robert was creative consultant to Robert Redford during the filming of the movie version, The Horse Whisperer.
