Suzy’s Zoo “Livingston Elephant” Friendship Die-Cut Greeting Card #F60384
“I will forget you not!”
“…ever!”
***Big, lovable Livingston Widefoot is hard to forget, and impossible to overlook!
1988 Everyday Catalog – It had been 20 years since Suzy Ducken holding her ducken doll, and Corky Turtle reading The Wall Street Journal, first appeared on note cards. Suzy Ducken was Suzy Spafford’s first character and is her name sake. Suzy, Jack Quacker, Corky and all the others seemed like people to her, just as real as all of you.
Suzy’s Zoo started out in 1963 as small original pastel drawings of single animals on dark colored paper, to be framed and used in kids’ rooms, kitchens, and bathrooms. She sold those drawings at outdoor art marts during her college years along with her watercolors and lithos of realistic and more serious subjects. A typical subject of the pastel drawings was a big-eyed frog, or a snail on a daisy looking at a ladybug – or a little yellow duck or chicken character, the forerunner of the Ducken.
Jack Quacker was created in 1974. Also when Suzy began using marker pens instead of pastels; a much brighter medium that inspired Suzy to develop many more characters.
